A piece of wire encloses a circle of 616 cm^2   The wire is now bent into the shape of a regular hexagon. Calculate the area of the hexagon. Take pi as 22/7.

I think that the circumference of the circle is equal to the circumference of the hexagon, where each side is equal in length as it is a regular polygon.
But I'm not sure how to proceed in this question.

Any help and comments are much appreciated :)

length of wire = circumference of the circle (area 616 cm^2)
= 2sqrt[(22/7)616] cm = 88 cm
Area of hexagon = 6 (88/6)^2 sqrt(3) / 4 cm^2 = 558.875 cm^2

If you know the area of a circle you can get the radius. If you know the radius, you can get the circumference, which is the length of wire. The area of the hexagon will be 6 * area of an equilateral triangle of side = circumference/6 (6 sides to a hexagon).
