What is the first step in replacing the rear transmission oil seal and bushing?


Index and remove the driveshaft.
Warm up the engine.
Clean the driveshaft.
Drain fluid.

What should be done prior to disassembling a transmission or transaxle assembly after removing it from the vehicle?


Order all available replacement parts for that transmission/transaxle.
Install it on the engine cradle for easier service.
Observe the effort it takes to rotate the input shaft in each of the gear selections.
Remove the countershaft and associated components.
