What is the underlying logic behind projective measures of personality?
◦ When asked to tell a story about an ambiguous image, any content or meaning assigned to that image must be unconsciously projected from within the individual doing the talking.
◦ By talking with an individual during an unstructured interview, a psychologist can ask the correct follow-up questions to get the person to reveal the true nature of her or his personality.
◦ A researcher projects images onto a screen, and the test-taker's task is to add to those images with words, drawings, or symbols that she or he feels complete the image in some way.
◦ Individuals completing self-report inventories of personality usually take several tests at one sitting, making it a personality assessment project.
