The mother of your 4-year-old female patient states that her daughter has been fighting a respiratory infection. A few days ago, the child was seen at a local clinic and was prescribed an antibiotic. Her daughter awoke her early this morning saying she was itching. The mother noticed apparent hives on the girls' face, neck, and chest. The patient's only signs and symptoms are some coughing and the hives. Which of the following should you do?
◦ Immediately administer an Epi-Pen Junior.
◦ Advise the mother to call the pediatrician for a different antibiotic.
◦ Advise the mother that these symptoms are related to the ear infection and the antibiotic will take care of these symptoms if taken as directed.
