A nurse working at a correctional facility has drawn blood from an inmate who has experienced gastrointestinal bleeding. While performing the venipuncture, the nurse told the inmate the blood was being drawn for the purposes of evaluating the inmate's hemoglobin and hematocrit. Can the nurse ask for the blood sample to be used to screen the inmate for drug usage?
