Question 1

Calculate the standard enthalpy change for the reaction
 2A + 2A2 + 4AB + B  → 5A2B
  Given:
2A + B → A2B
ΔH° = – 25.0 kJ/mol
2A2B → 2AB + A2
ΔH° = 35.0 kJ/mol

◦ – 95.0 kJ/mol
◦ – 60.0 kJ/mol
◦ – 15.0 kJ/mol
◦ 10.0 kJ/mol
◦ 45.0 kJ/mol

Question 2

Calculate the standard enthalpy change for the reaction
         2C8H18(l) + 17O2(g) → 16CO(g) + 18H2O(l).
    Given:
2C8H18(l) + 25O2(g) →16CO2(g) + 18H2O(l)
ΔH° = –11,020 kJ/mol
2CO(g) + O2(g) → 2CO2(g)
ΔH° = –566.0 kJ/mol

◦ –10.450 kJ/mol
◦ –6,492 kJ/mol
◦ 6,492 kJ/mol
◦ 10,450 kJ/mol
◦ 15,550 kJ/mol
