Answer to Question 1

Driven Type A personalities may see meditation as unproductive and lose patience with it since there are no immediate concrete outcomes. Sitting still for periods of time may seem like a waste of time to people who feel that they need to be on the go. Also, to the Type A person who is only familiar with two states, full-speed and sleep, it may seem inconceivable that there is a middle ground state of relaxation that can actually recharge a person and help that person become more productive.

Answer to Question 2

Some individuals can actually become more anxious when meditating as they may have fear of changes or think that the practice of meditation somehow threatens their belief systems. Others who are unfamiliar with deep relaxation may have feelings of anxiety as they push the boundaries of their normal experiences. A person who has never truly relaxed may find the sensations of relaxation strange or unsettling.
