Answer to Question 1

Vigor is a positive psychological state characterized by emotional energy, physical strength, and cognitive liveliness (Shraga & Shirom, 2009). Workplace meaningful interactions, challenge, and success are the top three activities positively related to vigor (Shraga & Shirom, 2009).

Answer to Question 2

Arie Shirom, one of the leading researchers in the area, defines burnout as an affective reaction to ongoing stress whose core content is the gradual depletion over time of individuals' intrinsic energetic resources, including the components of emotional exhaustion, physical fatigue, and cognitive weariness.. Notice the key words are affective, ongoing stress, gradual depletion. energy, emotional exhaustion, physical fatigue, and cognitive weariness. So according to Shirom, burnout is a long-term process mediated by our emotional reactions to stress that saps our emotional, physical, and mental energy reserves.
