a . Confirmation bias: Helps people to feel that their ideas and beliefs are the correct ones.
b. False consensus effect: People tend to show this effect for opinions and attitudes, as well as for their weaknesses and faults; helps them to feel that their views are the correct ones and that their weaknesses and faults are relatively forgivable.
c. False uniqueness effect: People tend to show this effect for their strengths; helps them to feel that their strengths are even more impressive than they really are.
d. Illusion of control: Helps people to feel that they have more power over things than they really do.
