a) Criminals tend to show little respect for laws and rules in general. They are often arrested multiple times for multiple different crimes.
b) Criminals also show low self-control in behaviors that are not against the law. They are more likely to smoke, to be in a traffic accident, to be involved in an unplanned pregnancy, to be late or absent from work or school, and so on. The discipline that often protects people from these behaviors is missing in people who are criminals.
