a) Aggression can be viewed as a means to help people get what they want.
b) Evolution has made most people selfish, as selfishness to some degree helps in survival and reproduction.
c) Social life will inevitably breed some conflicts between selfish creatures.
d) Aggression is one means of resolving these conflicts.
e) People are most likely to resort to aggression as a means of influence when they really want the reward (or to win the conflict) and when the other person seems weak or unlikely to retaliate.
