Social desirability refers to a behavior's acceptance level in a given society. If a person performs a behavior with low social desirability, then we can learn about that person's traits, as he or she is willing to behave in a way that goes against societal norms. An example of a behavior with low social desirability is stealing merchandise from a store. An example of a behavior with high social desirability is purchasing merchandise from a store.
