On the walk to work yesterday, Randall was nearly run over by a bus. While the bus barely touched him, he was knocked off his feet and suffered many bruises and a concussion.

This allows us to develop different notions about the characteristics of that group. Higher-status groups are more likely to hold on to stereotypes about a lower-status group; whereas lower-status groups are more likely to waver in their stereotypes of a higher-status group.
