To help keep track of payroll. Alot of business use most of their expences on employees and hours worked. Another reason would be to have documented proof of abidance in state law. Its also a great tool for tax season lol

If its your own business, you need to keep a very detailed record of the hours you spend doing customer's work and doing your own work like filing, record keeping, cleaning etc.

The reason for that is because you need to charge your customer's for the time you spend doing their work and without keeping a detailed record of the hours, you have no chance of billing them correctly for your time.
