Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 1
Causes for postrenal AKI include calculi, cancer, external compression, benign prostatic hypertrophy, strictures, and blood clots. Hypovolemia, sepsis, and drug toxicity would be considered prerenal causes of AKI.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 1

Acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis (also called acute proliferative glomerulonephritis) is the most common primary glomerular disorder and is identified by a throat culture that detects group A beta-hemolytic streptococci. The ASO titer detects streptococcal exoenzymes which are present in poststreptococcal proliferative glomerulonephritis. The urinalysis also demonstrates the presence of protein, red blood cells, and white blood cells which are typical with this condition. Serum creatinine and BUN elevations are consistent with glomerulonephritis. Prerenal AKI is typically caused by hypovolemia or low cardiac output and none of the laboratory test results validate this finding. End-stage kidney disease is classified by the glomerular filtration rate, which is not noted in the laboratory report. These tests are not within normal limits.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
