Answer to Question 1

Many children from low-SES families live in small and often overcrowded apartments where adequate study space and parental supervision is lacking. Their neighborhoods tend to be characterized by high levels of street crime and low levels of social cohesion.

Answer to Question 2

Interruptions by a teacher may distract some students to the degree that they forget about the task at hand and engage in less desired behaviors. It is important not to interrupt the momentum of the lesson and to be aware of student responses to instruction.
