The difference in concept between extant and elicited in the use of documents in qualitative research has to do with

Compared to normal and late-maturing boys, early-maturing boys are more popular with peers, have a more positive self-concept, and have more friends who are older. But friendships with older boys increase the risk of delinquency, substance abuse, truancy, and increased sexual activity.
