Answer to Question 1

(any four or more of the following):
1. Opt for the lightest pack available.
2. Make sure the backpack has a heavy-duty hip strap and adjust it so the bulk of the weight is primarily on your hips.
3. Use a small internal-frame or rolling pack.
4. Use both straps rather than carrying the pack over one shoulder.
5. Use and carry the lightest computer possible.
6. Carry only necessary items.
7. When lifting the pack, stand with both feet on the ground, knees slightly flexed, and your back straight.
8. Pack heavy items on the bottom and as close to your back as possible.
9. Keep the total weight of the pack and its contents under 15 pounds.
