Age The earlier a person begins to experiment with drugs, the more likely he or she is to progress of addiction.
Gender Although men are more likely to use and abuse drugs, women are more likely to become addicted.

Answer: Perhaps the most fundamental characteristic of addiction is craving. Another characteristic is loss of pleasure, the addict receiving very little satisfaction from the substance or activity.
