The primary methods for long-term reconstructions include ice core and ocean sediment analysis. Both are based on measuring isotopic ratios. For shorter-term reconstructions, methods such as dendrochronology (dendroclimatology), lake core sediments, pollen analysis, speleothems analysis, and coral analysis.
