ANS: D
The ITA became the American Association for Inhalation Therapists (AAIT) in 1954, the Amer-ican Association for Respiratory Therapy (ARRT) in 1973, and the AARC in 1982.

There are approximately 300 associate, 50 baccalaureate, and 3 graduate-level degree programs in the United States.
