Answer to Question 1

C
Empathy shown by the nurse's response may pave the way for discussion of the effect and meaning of illness for the patient. Arranging for a personal telephone is not therapeutic since it is not permitted and is likely to increase the patient's stress level. The remaining options are nontherapeutic since they do not positively address the patient's anger.

Answer to Question 2

A
Epidemiologists use a specific vocabulary to define aspects of their work. They typically begin their work by defining the condition or disease of interest, the population at risk for illness, and the potential risk factors to be examined. They then decide what data to collect and how to examine it.
