Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Factor VIII concentrates can cause allergic reactions, which can range from mild to severe. Symptoms of a mild reaction include hives, rash, urticaria, stuffy nose, and fever. These can be managed with an antihistamine (eg, Benadryl).
Human albumin and norepinephrine are not indicated for allergic reactions.
Epinephrine is indicated for an anaphylactic reaction.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
To minimize the risk of hepatitis, all patients newly diagnosed with hemophilia should be vaccinated with hepatitis A and B vaccines.
Polio vaccine, tetanus immunization, and MMR may be indicated for all children; however, a child with hemophilia especially should be protected against hepatitis because of the risk of acquiring blood-borne disease during blood transfusions.
