Answer to Question 1

 The dead infant is present and beautifully dressed and adorned
 Somehow elevated to symbolize the child's transformation into an angel and entry into eternity.

Answer to Question 2

 Funeral rites such as wawa velorio, a child's wake are life cycle rituals.
