Answer to Question 1

Glucose is the form of carbohydrate that all others are converted into for eventual metabolism. Glucose is found in corn syrup and in some fruits and vegetables. The central nervous system, red blood cells, and the brain use only glucose as fuel; therefore, a continuous source is needed. Unused glucose is converted to glycogen and stored in the liver and muscles. If the volume exceeds the amount that can be used or stored in the muscles or liver, it is stored as adipose tissue.
