Answer: Optimismthe opposite of pessimismhas benefits for mental health, which can then lead to better physical health and recovery. People with positive illusions adjust better to difficult circumstances.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: People with a pessimistic explanatory style see bad events as stable (likely to keep happening), all-encompassing or global (affecting many aspects of life), and internal (caused by the self).
