Answer to Question 1

The etiology of cancer is multifactorial: genetic, environmental, and/or lifestyle factors result in genetic and epigenetic changes and unrestrained proliferation of cells. Risk factors include growing older; tobacco use; exposure to sunlight, ionizing radiation, certain chemicals and other substances (carcinogens), some viruses and bacteria, and certain hormones; family history of cancer; alcohol consumption; poor diet; lack of physical activity; and being overweight. Prevention guidelines were developed by the American Cancer Society (ACS). Screening is available for some cancers -- for example, the Papanicolaou (Pap) test and cervical exam screen for cervical cancer -- but unavailable for many others.

Answer to Question 2

non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, NAFLD
