The potential complications of acute pancreatitis are infection (sepsis via GI translocation), ARDS, hyperglycemia, diabetes, GI hemorrhages, renal dysfunction, and malnutrition.

 Mrs. Smith should be physically active at least 30 minutes every day.
 To get started, she should:
- Add 30 min. physical activity to each day (e.g. hike, golf, run, aerobics, weight train)
- Reduce time spent watching TV
- Substitute moderate-level activities for more vigorous ones, twice weekly
