ANSWER: Answer should include the descriptions of :
1. Quiet sleep - when infants are at full rest.
2. Active sleep - gentle limb movements, occasional stirring, and facial grimaces.
3. Drowsiness - the state where infant are either just waking up or falling asleep.
4. Quiet alertness - a state of relative inactivity, with eyes open and attentive.
5. Active alert - awake with body and limb movements
6. Crying - characterized by frequent burst of uncoordinated body activity, irregularbreathing, relaxed or tense, wrinkled facial expressions, and possibly crying.

Answer to Question 2

ANSWER: Answers will vary but should include the following points: Genetics is the study of the transmission of hereditary characteristics to living organisms. Progress in genetic study is increasing the capability to identify genetic predisposition to abnormalities or to disease before or shortly after conception. New discoveries in biotechnology are providing opportunities for gene therapy. Gene therapy can modify and even eliminate genes that may make a person prone to a particular disease or disability. The Human Genome Project has supplied us with an enormous amount of information regarding human genetics. Epigenetics is pushing our knowledge even further.
