Negative communication can result from poor communication skills. In addition, communication can be used to manipulate feelings, convey falsehoods, hide information, or degrade the other person or relationship. Such communication can be used to destroy a relationship.

Society is more accepting of married women and mothers working outside the home. Children of working mothers are more supportive of working wives. Children in dual-career families tend to be more egalitarian and more likely to have a dual-career family. As a result of these attitudes, the number of dual-career families should continue to increase.
