Answer to Question 1

Exercise is most likely more important in later adulthood than earlier in life because
it can improve balance, strength, and flexibility, typical weaknesses in older adults.
Muscle strengthening in particular benefits the cardiovascular, respiratory, and
digestive systems as well as balance. Weight-bearing exercise can slow the
process of osteoporosis and help prevent falls. Obstacles toward getting regular
exercise include self-perception, fear, and community circumstances such as
absence of sidewalks and dangerous street traffic.

Answer to Question 2

Followers of calorie restriction limit themselves to about 1,000 calories of nutritious
food, avoiding anything that is fried, buttered, or sugared. One scientific
commentary notes that we won't know for a long time if calorie restriction can
extend human life; the second commentary notes that in mammals, calorie
restriction must begin in infancy, a circumstance that is impractical in humans.
