Homework has no benefit for children in elementary and middle school. It has little benefit for children in high school. This has been proven through numerous studies but ignored because of myths. Why do you think you need to discipline your son? You should be looking at homework itself, it is unnecessary.

I'd have him do extra worksheets.
Next time, have the teacher check to make sure he brings home the homework.
