What is the best method to prevent warfarin-induced skin necrosis during treatment for thrombosis?

To prevent warfarin-induced skin necrosis, heparin is given along with the warfarin until a therapeutic and stable international normalized ratio (INR) is obtained.

Fibrinogen levels may drop in DIC, but because fibrinogen is an acute phase reactant it may actually be increased in the presence of an inflammatory process such as sepsis.
