The nurse working with mothers over 35 having their first baby knows there are some disadvantages. For what disadvantage would the nurse carefully assess in each patient?
 
  1. What kind of insurance the patient has for maternity care
  2. Whether the patient is married
  3. Whether the patient will continue working after the baby arrives
  4. Whether the patient has any chronic disease that will have to be addressed

Question 2

The postpartum nurse is caring for a patient who gave birth to full-term twins earlier today. The nurse will know to assess for symptoms of:
 
  1. Increased blood pressure.
  2. Hypoglycemia.
  3. Postpartum hemorrhage.

Rationale 4: Postpartum infection would be assessed through lochia odor and uterine pain, and would not be expected this soon after delivery.
