B Ingestion of aspirin is not treated with administration of water or milk. The
treatment may involve gastric lavage with activated charcoal, IV fluids with
various additives to decrease absorption, treatment of electrolyte imbalances, and
vitamin K for bleeding tendencies.
C Ingestion of acetaminophen is not treated with administration of milk or water.
Gastric lavage within 1 hour and administration of the antidote N-acetylcysteine
(Mucomyst) is indicated.
D Administering water or milk can dilute the toxic effects of acid or alkali
ingestion.
