Common law is based on legal precedent. The U. S. legal system is an example of a common law system. Code law countries use a comprehensive written law that specify what constitutes legal behavior. Japan is an example of a code law system. Islamic law is based on the interpretation of the Koran. Saudi Arabia uses the Islamic legal system. Socialist law relies a lot on Code law. Russia is an example of a socialist legal system.
