Why is it important to assess a person's posture?

Question 2

You notice that one of your swim team members is sitting on the side of the pool. When she breathes in, she raises her shoulders and moves her neck back. Is this normal breathing?

Answer to Question 1

It is important to assess a person's posture because proper body alignment is needed for the muscles and joints to work properly. When there is poor posture and alignment, there is additional stress on the muscles and joints.
