Answer to Question 1

B

Answer to Question 2

The fasting plasma glucose (FPG) test requires that the patient fast for 8 to 10 hours prior to the blood being drawn. The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) requires that the patient drink a glucose solution 2 hours prior to the blood being drawn. The A1C or glycosylated hemoglobin test requires neither fasting nor consumption of glucose. It is used not only to diagnose diabetes and prediabetes, but also to monitor blood glucose levels over the past 2-3 months.
