Scientific misconduct is violating basic and accepted standards of honest scientific research. Research fraud and plagiarism are both considered scientific misconduct. Research fraud is inventing, falsifying or distorting study data or to lie about how a study was conducted. Plagiarism using another person's words or ideas without giving
them proper credit.
