Answer to Question 1

The Technique Chart determines the settings for an X-ray machine. The settings (in columns) are based on the centimeter measurement of the area to be radiographed. Columns reading across and down determine the settings for kVp and mAs.

Answer to Question 2

To measure and record the amount of radiation exposure for an individual.
