Guinea pigs make low grunts, squeals, and have fat bellies like pigs. After obtaining some guinea pigs, Dutch
and English traders stopped off in Guinea on their way to Europe. The first guinea pigs were sold in England
for an English coin called a guinea. Guinea comes from the Portuguese word guinewhich means far away
and unknown land.
