Answer to Question 1

1,2,5
Rationale: Type 1 diabetics do not produce insulin, so oral medications would have no effect, because they stimulate insulin production. Insulin must be injected because it cannot be taken orally, due to destruction by stomach acids. Maintaining stable blood glucose levels within normal limits will help to reduce the risk of complications. Insulin will be required throughout the client's life, and weight control will reduce the amount of insulin required but will not eliminate the need for insulin injections.

Answer to Question 2

2
Rationale: Palliative care may be instituted for clients who are not terminally ill.
