Answer to Question 1

Emission nebulae produce shock waves, resulting from their hot ionized gases. Supernovae are an excellent source of shock waves. Both of these are caused by O-B stars. Collisions between galaxies can also initiate star formation on a grand scale in starburst galaxies.
