Answer to Question 1

In type 2 diabetes, individuals have too much glucose, also called sugar, in their blood. In this form of diabetes, the cells do not respond appropriately to the insulin that is produced. It is most often associated with older age, obesity, family history of diabetes, previous history of gestational diabetes, physical inactivity, and certain ethnicities. People who are overweight and inactive are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
