Answer to Question 1

Ultrasound of the liver: uses high-frequency sound waves to examine for tumors, abscesses, cysts, or organ enlargement.

Ultrasound of the kidneys: basically the same as with the liver; uses high-frequency sound waves to examine for tumors, abscesses, cysts, or organ enlargement; will also detect stones.

Answer to Question 2

Anemia from bleeding or iron deficiency can be mild or very serious, depending on the degree of bleeding and the degree of iron deficiency. With severe deficiency, the person is limited in the amount and type of exercise or even daily routine. With +-thalassemia minor, the anemia is mild and usually symptom free, allowing the person to live a normal life.
