Answer to Question 1

Stimulates insulin release from the pancreas and reduces glucose output by the liver. An extrapancreatic effect increases peripheral sensitivity to insulin. Could cause nausea, vomiting, constipation, and hypoglycemia.

Answer to Question 2

For Similac Neocare there is 120 g of water per every 100 kcals. At 5 months LV was receiving 201.6 kcals. This would include 2.01 x 120 = 241.2 g of water or 241 mls. At 9 months LV was receiving 275 kcals from Similac Neocare providing him with 2.75 x 120 = 330 mls of water. LV should be receiving 1.5 mls/kcal.
