Yes. If he sipped on high-calorie drinks all day, drank alcohol, and still ate blenderized high fat foods, he could still gain weight.

Answer to Question 2

Yes. This procedure is stressful and would increase his requirements. His reduced caloric intake makes it difficult for him to obtain all the vitamins and minerals he needs in his diet.
