Answer to Question 1

Food will take longer to cook if it is spread out over a greater area. The material used also affects the time-temperature data. Pyrex glass does not hold heat well, so the time-temperature data dropped rapidly. Metal traps some heat and kept the boiling water hot for a longer time. Styrofoam cups have the best time and temperature data for holding the boiling water. The aluminum loaf pan's water did not reach as high of a temperature as the aluminum square pan. Density, surface area, humidity, and thermometer calibrations could all have an effect on the experiment.

Answer to Question 2

The aluminum cookie sheet is the best sheet to use when baking cookies because it is a good conductor of heat and decreases the incidence of over-baking. If baked at the correct time and temperature, the cookies will burn less. They will be even-colored and have the correct flavor and texture. Shiny aluminum pans should be used when light browning and a soft crust are desired.
