Answer to Question 1

Vitamin B6 deficiency results in inadequate heme production, which lowers concentrations of hemoglobin in red blood cells (RBC). RBC are then unable to deliver sufficient oxygen to the tissues, and this impairs their ability to produce ATP via aerobic metabolism, causing fatigue.

Answer to Question 2

UL for niacin = 35 mg per day from supplements and fortified foods. Harmful effects include increased plasma glucose and damage to the liver.
