Answer to Question 1

It is a numerical ratio used to assess a person's risk for cardiovascular disease. Optimal is 3.5:1 or lower. Doctor's recommend that this ratio be below 5:1 . The ratio is calculated by dividing total cholesterol level by HDL. Example: Cholesterol level = 240, HDL level = 60, ratio = 4:1... just above optimal but better than what doctor's recommend.
